The George Washington University’s Richard B. and Lynne V. Cheney Cardiovascular Institute & McCormick Genomics Center are pleased to host a CME event, with the Personalized Medicine Coalition, an educational and advocacy organization, as our co-sponsor. Our keynote speaker is Dr. Geoffrey S. Ginsburg, MD, PhD, Duke Medical Center, who will address “The Role of Genomics in the Future of Cardiovascular Medicine.”
The program is open to attendees at no cost and offers CME credit.

“The Role of Genomics in the Future of Cardiovascular Medicine -- Genomics Risk Profiling and Pharmacogenomics”
Dr. Geoffrey S. Ginsburg, MD, PhD, is Director of the Center for Genomics Medicine, Duke Institute for Genome Sciences & Policy, and Professor of Medicine and Pathology at Duke University Medical Center.
The field of cardiology is poised to advance the science of evidence-based medicine whereby disease risk, natural history, and response to available and developing therapies will be based on an individual's genetic make-up.

Learning Objectives
After Dr. Ginsburg's lecture, participants will:
- Understand current concepts of genomic testing
- Use of genomics to assess risk of cardiovascular disease
- Appreciate the potential, present and future, in the use of pharmacogenomics to tailor lipid lowering and other prevention therapy
